Yinwang is essentially the Intelligent Automotive Solution BU of Huawei. You could say it's one team under two brands currently, but we are gradually promoting the Yinwang brand externally, hence its use today.
The era of intelligent society is accelerating. We can see advancements in five key technologies: intelligent technology, communication and networks, perception and interaction, storage and computing, and new energy. Between 2030 and 2040, we may witness large-scale breakthroughs in these areas. The combination of these breakthroughs will form a foundation, leading towards a super-intelligent entity. Embodied AI could be a typical representative of this super-intelligent entity.
Intelligent technology is moving towards world models, communication networks towards 6G (wireless 6G, or perhaps beyond), perception and interaction towards full holography, storage and computing towards quantum computing and even anthropomorphic storage, and new energy, as just discussed, includes solid-state batteries and controllable nuclear fusion.
As intelligence empowers various industries, intelligent driving is also advancing rapidly. It took roughly ten years for automation penetration to reach 50%, whereas in the field of intelligence, it took only about five years to reach 50%, indicating a very fast pace. In the realm of intelligent driving or advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), two key future challenges are end-to-end networks and world models.
Huawei's Qiankun focuses on vehicle intelligence. We offer five solutions: Intelligent Driving, Intelligent Cockpit, Intelligent Vehicle Control, Intelligent Vehicle Cloud, and Intelligent Lighting. Let me briefly update you on the intelligent aspects of our solutions. Starting with Intelligent Driving, our current architecture is called WEWA. 'WE' stands for World Engine, primarily on the cloud side. We use diffusion models, employing AI to train AI. While there might be only one instance in reality, the cloud can generate thousands, training continuously, 24/7.
Simultaneously, using reinforcement learning, scenarios impossible to encounter in reality can be continuously trained in the cloud, iterating our models. We currently achieve iterations roughly every two days in the cloud, with cloud computing power reaching 4.5 ExaFLOPS, which should rank at the forefront in the intelligent driving field.
On the vehicle side, it's called WA, World Action Model. Look at the left side: we take all perceived signals from the vehicle – visual, tactile, auditory (as there are now microphones inside and outside the car) – tokenize these inputs, and process them through a native memory model. The output goes in two directions: one for the human occupant, indicating the vehicle's intentions, and the other providing driving trajectories to the vehicle.
The WEWA architecture I just mentioned is our software; here is our hardware. At Yinwang, we emphasize multi-sensor fusion. Look at the radar chart on the left. Some advocate for pure vision. Let's examine vision: it excels in angular resolution and environmental elements. Angular resolution means distinguishing two small objects close together 100 meters away. Vision does this clearly. Environmental elements refer to its understanding of traffic signals, lane markings.
But consider Lidar: its strength is range resolution. For example, distinguishing two objects at 150 meters and 145 meters respectively, at such a close range difference, vision might struggle due to limitations with depth perception at distance, whereas Lidar can see clearly.
Additionally, Lidar has irreplaceable advantages over pure vision in strong light or speed measurement, as does millimeter-wave radar. By pioneering high-resolution solid-state Lidar and combining it with distributed millimeter-wave radar, we achieve all-dimensional safety. What does 'all-dimensional' mean? For instance, when reversing, traditional systems detect obstacles, preventing collisions. But a common scenario is backing up towards a ditch – no obstacle, but a drop. Without detecting this negative obstacle, you might back into the ditch. With our fused sensors, even such negative obstacles can be detected. This is just one example; we strongly advocate fused sensing for multi-dimensional safety across all speeds, all objects, all scenarios, all weather conditions, and all directions. Chairman Zhu Huarong also mentioned that safety is synonymous with high quality, which I fully agree with.
Now, looking at Intelligent Vehicle Control: this involves the entire electronic and electrical architecture, what we call the Communication and Computing Architecture. Traditionally, by abstracting atomic services, we help automakers bring new models to market faster. Taking the Shangjie H5 as an example, the R&D cycle was shortened from 15 months to 9 months, significantly speeding up development. This is the advantage for traditional vehicle manufacturing.
What does intelligent empowerment mean? Look at the right side, the Zunjie model. For example, traversing small bumps as if on flat ground, or maintaining control during a tire blowout at 120 km/h on a high/low-friction split surface – these utilize Intelligent Vehicle Control technologies to integrate the chassis and fuse data from Intelligent Driving sensors to create a superior experience.
Next, the Harmony Cockpit. Dean Yang Dongsheng also mentioned agents. Indeed, many are likely following similar paths. On the left, Harmony OS is the core, connecting northbound to apps and southbound to hardware peripherals. The middle is the Harmony Cockpit architecture called MoLA – a hybrid large model agent architecture. Horizontally, these agents are scenario-based – navigation, news, entertainment – a multi-agent architecture enabling great experiences.
Simultaneously, we've launched intelligent audio systems. We partner with Burmester, BOSE, etc., each with unique characteristics. Intelligence is our hallmark. We now integrate the entire chain – acoustic design, audio hardware, intelligent algorithms, and extensive tuning – to deliver an exceptional audio experience.
In the first half of this year, vehicles equipped with 21-speaker systems increased by over 35%. Furthermore, we pioneered independent sound zones. What does this mean? For example, the mother in the front seat can listen to music, while children in the back watch cartoons – each enjoys their audio without interference, thanks to sound barrier processing.
For Automotive Light, the main products are HUD and lighting modules. How does HUD help Intelligent Driving? When you first use Intelligent Driving, you're unsure of the vehicle's capabilities. You don't know if it detects a pedestrian suddenly crossing at dusk. The HUD can clearly highlight detected objects with a red marker, showing you it 'sees' them, increasing driver confidence even when the system is active. When driving manually without ADAS, at complex intersections in Shenzhen with multiple lanes, the HUD, due to excellent integration, clearly shows which lane to take, preventing wrong turns.
On the right are lighting modules, featuring functions like Adaptive Driving Beam (ADB). When using high beams, the system can mask the area directly affecting a pedestrian's eyes, creating a dark spot for their safety.
As intelligent driving becomes more prevalent, even with L3/L4 pilots where the driver's seat might be empty, intelligent interaction is crucial. During our pilots, if the vehicle can project a signal like "I am in automated driving mode" or "Please go first," it adds significant value.
Another aspect of Huawei's Automotive Light is moving entertainment from inside to outside the vehicle by empowering lights with intelligence. For example, using colored projections outside the vehicle to watch football, sing, or for welcome modes, adding emotional value.
Traditionally, vehicle cloud services are passive – like calling a hotline. Now, we can proactively identify potential vehicle issues without the owner having to describe the problem repeatedly, based on data from over a million vehicles and daily operational data, faults, and needs we've analyzed.
What is AI proactive care? For instance, scheduling proactive vehicle health checks. Just as communication networks have proactive checks, so do vehicles. There was a case where an AITO M9 was driving with its fuel cap possibly loose. The system detected this and alerted the owner. This shifts user service from passive to proactive care.
To date, we have collaborated on 33 models, with about 80 more models launching next year. Hence, we say if you're buying a car, get one with ADAS; and if you're getting ADAS, choose one with Qiankun Intelligent Driving.
