How Song Plus Packs a Hybrid Blade Set

A Song Plus pack is a hybrid Blade set sized for a plug-in SUV, not a copy of the larger floor packs used in BYD’s pure-electric nameplates. The teaching files are BYD Qatar’s current SONG PLUS DM-i page and BYD’s 28 May 2025 Brazil SONG PLUS 2026 news release, both retrieved on 14 September 2026. Qatar prints 18.3 kWh, Super DM language, and up to 765 km combined AWD on WLTP, with a laboratory footnote. Brazil’s release keeps Dual Mode and quotes Blade electric range on NEDC and PBEV, with Premium moving from 18.3 kWh to 26.6 kWh plus 18 kW DC. Those are two markets and three test labels, not one global kilowatt-hour.

This is an education file, not a ranking of family SUVs. AutoCN will help you keep chemistry, capacity, and cycle in separate cells. It will not convert Qatar WLTP kilometres into Brazil PBEV kilometres, and it will not invent a Europe WLTP electric range that these two first-party pages did not print.

What Blade is doing in a Super DM floor

On the Qatar page, Super DM is BYD’s name for its plug-in hybrid system. The company says the Electric Hybrid System integrates high-speed dual motors, dual controllers, and oil cooling, and that the Xiaoyun engine is built for that hybrid system. The Blade pack in this story is described as tailor-made for the hybrid platform. That sentence matters. A hybrid Blade set shares the same public chemistry story as a Seal or Seagull pack — lithium iron phosphate, long prismatic cells stacked as structural beams, honeycomb language for vertical stiffness — but the published kilowatt-hours are much smaller because the engine and generator still sit in the energy budget.

BYD’s Blade explainer on the same Qatar page repeats the manufacturer claims used across the brand: LFP heats slowly, releases less heat, and does not release oxygen the way some oxide cathodes can; a nail-penetration demonstration ended without fire or smoke with surface temperatures in a 30 to 60 °C band; space utilisation is said to be more than 50 percent higher than a traditional pack; lifecycle language is “over 5000 charge and discharge cycles.” Those are BYD sentences. They explain why a Song Plus can carry LFP under a PHEV floor. They are not a crash-star certificate for your VIN and not a proof that every Song Plus in every year uses the same cell count.

Why 18.3 kWh and 26.6 kWh must stay in different columns

18.3 kWh is the capacity the Qatar page prints in the hero block and the capacity the Brazil news release uses as the previous Premium pack. 26.6 kWh is the Brazil 2026 Premium pack in that same release. They are different energy answers. A seller who says “Song Plus Blade” without a number is not giving you a pack. Ask which sheet, which market, and which test cycle sits next to the electric-range line. If the booklet names a third capacity, copy that third capacity. Do not average 18.3 and 26.6.

Electric range travels even less well than capacity. Qatar’s “from 70 km” electric sentence sits next to the 18.3 kWh hybrid-Blade paragraph and is not labelled with a cycle in that sentence. Qatar’s 765 km figure is labelled combined range AWD (WLTP). Brazil’s 100 km and 135 km lines are labelled NEDC. Brazil’s 63 km and 87 km lines are labelled PBEV. A combined hybrid WLTP number includes fuel. An NEDC electric number does not become a WLTP electric number because both appear in a Song Plus press kit.

How to inspect the pack story on a car you can touch

Photograph the VIN, the energy row in the instrument cluster if it exists, the charge inlet family, and the booklet page that names Blade or LFP and the kilowatt-hours. A Song Plus that will live on petrol because the destination has no reliable AC point is still a hybrid file, but the 26.6 kWh Premium story is wasted money if the buyer cannot plug in. A Song Plus that will live on electricity in a city with 18 kW DC only on the Brazil Premium sheet is a different file from a Qatar 18.3 kWh car whose DC peak this article will not invent.

Inlet family is not printed as CCS2 or GB/T on the two pages used here. Do not assume Europe Combo because the brand sells CCS2 cars in Europe. Do not assume GB/T because the car was built in China. Photograph the inlet. If the destination has no written adapter or conversion path, the pack chemistry will not save the deal.

Used Song Plus cars need a battery-health report, a hybrid-system scan, and an accident file. This page will not call any used pack healthy. High cycle-life marketing is not a state-of-health percentage. If the seller only offers a screenshot of a Brazil NEDC number, you have a marketing tile, not a pack report.

Related nameplates that must not borrow this pack

Europe’s Seal U DM-i and other DM SUVs share Super DM language in other first-party files. They are not automatically 18.3 kWh or 26.6 kWh Song Plus cars. China Song Plus Champion editions have used more than one pack across model years. If your quote says Song Plus but the booklet says another capacity, believe the booklet. If your quote says Seal U, start a new column. AutoCN’s other Blade files for Seagull city packs and Han or Tang BEV floors are teaching files for those bodies. Do not paste a 108.8 kWh Tang row into a Song Plus hybrid brief because both say Blade.

Cost and availability cells that stay empty

The Brazil news release mentions 2024 volume in Brazil and a 2026 launch event. That is market colour for Brazil. It is not a stock count for your yard and not an export price. The Qatar page prints performance and range marketing, not a riyal invoice. This article will not invent a landed cost for a 26.6 kWh Premium or an 18.3 kWh Comfort-equivalent. AutoCN’s price guides explain how to build a column. They do not fill the column. A tile on the BYD brand page is not inventory.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is the Song Plus pack the same Blade used in a Seal?

It is the same public chemistry family in BYD’s language: LFP Blade cells with the nail-test story. The Qatar page also calls the hybrid pack tailor-made and prints 18.3 kWh. A Seal BEV floor pack on a Europe page is a different energy and a different vehicle architecture. Copy the capacity from the sheet that names this VIN.

Which range number should an importer put in a bid?

The number whose cycle matches the destination’s legal label, copied from the booklet that will travel with the car. If the destination cares about WLTP, do not paste Brazil NEDC. If the destination cares about PBEV, do not paste Qatar WLTP combined. If you cannot name the cycle, leave the kilometre cell empty.

Does 18 kW DC make the Premium a fast-charge SUV?

The Brazil news release says the 2026 Premium adds 18 kW DC and a full charge in less than 1.5 hours. That is a Brazil Premium sentence. It is not a 100 kW hatch sentence and not a 170 kW Tang sentence. Size the charge stop against 18 kW, not against a BEV brochure from another model.

Can I treat the 5,000-cycle line as a warranty?

No. It is lifecycle marketing on the Qatar Blade explainer. Warranty years, kilometres, and state-of-health thresholds live in the booklet for that chassis and region. This page will not convert a cycle slogan into a claim form.

Will AutoCN confirm which pack is in stock?

No. AutoCN is a sourcing and information platform. Use guides to keep chemistry and cycle honest, and contact when you need the next file step. Ask for a VIN energy row. Do not ask for a guaranteed pack or a guaranteed destination approval.

Keep the hybrid Blade small, labelled, and local

Song Plus packs Blade cells for a plug-in hybrid, in published sizes that this file can name: 18.3 kWh on the Qatar page and on the previous Brazil Premium, and 26.6 kWh on the Brazil 2026 Premium news release. The chemistry story is LFP and manufacturer nail-test language. The kilometre story is NEDC, PBEV, or WLTP depending on which official page you hold. Mix those labels and the pack becomes a slogan. Keep them apart and the pack becomes a contract cell. AutoCN will help you keep the cells apart. It will not invent a fourth capacity so the bid looks neat.
