We have obtained a set of spy photos of the next-generation BMW iX4. The new model will be built on BMW's next-generation Neue Klasse platform and is expected to officially launch by the end of 2026. Additionally, the current gasoline-powered BMW X4 will cease production by the end of November, with no direct internal combustion engine successor planned.

Based on the spy photos, the front section of the new BMW iX4 is expected to share the same design as the upcoming new BMW iX3, with key differences beginning from the B-pillar onward. It features a heavily raked D-pillar with a steeper coupe-like roofline, even more pronounced than the current X4, which should contribute to improved aerodynamics. The rear incorporates a fixed spoiler, which appears to integrate the high-mounted stoplight, rather than placing it on the rear window.

The interior and powertrain of the new iX4 are expected to be shared with the new iX3. The cabin will feature the new iDrive X infotainment system paired with the BMW Panoramic Vision Display (head-up display). Powertrain options will include rear-wheel drive, all-wheel drive, and a high-performance version. For reference, the iX3 50 xDrive (based on the same Neue Klasse platform) utilizes an 800V architecture, a 108 kWh large cylindrical battery pack, a combined setup of a front asynchronous and rear separately excited synchronous electric motor, producing a maximum output of 345 kW (463 hp) and 645 N·m of torque, targeting a CLTC range of 900 km. We will continue to monitor and report further details about this new model.
