BYD e5: An Early Contender in the Electric Sedan Arena

Since its debut in 2016, the BYD e5—a pure electric sedan reminiscent of the Toyota Corolla—has captured the attention of many consumers with its distinctive appeal. Even before the nationwide rollout of green-and-white new energy license plates, the e5 had already become a familiar sight on the streets.

Exterior Design

The front fascia of the e5 features a dual-winged upper grille, complemented by a black mesh lower grille and matte-finish fog light housings on both sides, creating a harmonious and unified visual effect.

The side profile showcases smooth and elegant lines, while the rear end closely resembles the BYD Surui, with the only distinguishing features being the "e5" badge on the right and the absence of an exhaust pipe.

Interior & Features

The interior of the BYD e5 is styled in a black and silver color scheme. The dashboard design is minimalist yet functional, with conventional physical buttons and silver accents ensuring ease of use. The multifunction steering wheel is also equipped with multiple physical controls, allowing drivers to easily operate in-car features while on the move.

The e5 is powered by an electric motor delivering a maximum output of 160 kW and a peak torque of 310 N·m, with a top speed of 130 km/h. It is equipped with a lithium iron phosphate (LFP) battery pack, providing a comprehensive range of 305 km—sufficient for daily commuting needs.
