0275d75c985749ebb1b1763122248bcfThe Renault Twingo E-Tech has officially made its global debut. As the first model under Renault Group’s “Leap 100” plan, it was designed by Renault's French technical center, led by the ACDC team in Shanghai, China, and will be produced at the Novo Mesto plant in Slovenia. From design to mass production, the vehicle was developed in just 100 weeks—half the time of a conventional vehicle development cycle. Positioned as a pure-electric compact car built on the AmpR Small platform, it is expected to be priced below €20,000 overseas. However, according to Su Weiming, Chairman and CEO of Renault Group China, it is unlikely to be introduced to the Chinese market.

Exterior Design

The exterior design draws inspiration from the first-generation Twingo launched in 1993. Elements such as the headlights, grille outline, and ventilation outlets on the front hood pay homage to the classic model. The semi-circular headlights are particularly eye-catching, adding a playful touch to its character.

The side profile continues the single-volume body style, with a shape reminiscent of an “energy bubble.” It retains traditional door handles, while the wheel design adds a sporty flair. At the rear, the semi-circular LED taillights echo the front design, and the protruding rear glass gives it a distinctive look. The overall design reflects the French flair for avant-garde aesthetics. The vehicle measures 3,790 mm in length, 1,720 mm in width, and 1,490 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,490 mm. It offers a trunk capacity of 360 liters.

Interior & Features

The cabin is equipped with a 7-inch digital instrument cluster and a 10.25-inch central touchscreen. The interface features vibrant color schemes such as yellow and green, giving it a modern tech feel. Details like the air vents and control toggles are finely crafted, enhancing the interior’s overall quality. The seats are upholstered in fabric, and the rear seats can be split 50:50. Additionally, a magnetic mount is installed behind the front seats for holding devices like smartphones.

Powertrain & Performance

The Twingo E-Tech is powered by a single electric motor producing 81 hp, accelerating from 0-100 km/h in 12.1 seconds. It is equipped with a 27.5 kWh LFP battery supplied by CATL, utilizing Cell-to-Pack technology, and offers a WLTP range of 263 km.
